Private Reading Tutoring

Imagine feeling a sense of relief during those precious after school hours at home…

You are a busy, driven, goal oriented and successful working parent. You are so busy juggling the responsibilities of your entire family life that those hours at the end of the day becomes frenzied, rushed, and stressful. You hear your child is saying things like “I hate school” and “I don’t want to go to school tomorrow”. You are exhausted but know your child needs extra support with reading.

You’ve heard good things about private tutoring but you’re not sure if it will work for your child.

Your child needs help now and you can’t waste your time or financial investment.

If you are going to invest in a private tutor for your child, you know you need a tutor who makes it easy to see improvements in your child’s reading and writing skills quickly. You know you need a tutor who understands how reading difficulties can affect school performance and home life.

You need a tutor who can tailor reading instruction to your child’s schedule, needs, and goals.

I teach overworked and overwhelmed students reading and life skills that increase confidence, performance, and productivity so that the daily grind is more bearable- even enjoyable.

Private reading tutoring might be perfect for your child if...

  • Your child is reluctant to go to school.

  • Your child says "reading is too hard" or "I hate school".

  • You want your child to feel confident and successful in their reading abilities.

  • You want your child to have the experience of working with a private tutor who is driven, organized, goal-oriented and knows how to handle the complex needs of a student who has reading difficulties.

I am Lindsey Norton, founder of Aligned Academics and private reading tutor.

I became familiar with the Orton-Gillingham approach (referred to as the gold standard in reading instruction for dyslexia) in 2018 and decided if I was going to offer the highest quality reading tutoring services, then I must have the highest quality professional development. My experience, knowledge, and expertise as a tutor changed drastically as a result of the training I received from Dawn Nieman (a Fellow at the Orton-Gillingham Academy). Becoming trained in traditional Orton-Gillingham radically changed the way I understood and taught reading. Subsequent trainings in the Phonographix method (speech to print, or linguistic phonics) also helped contribute to my understanding of how people become readers.

I am incredibly passionate about helping students become confident, lifelong learners in a way that is accessible, relatable, and transferable.
